["This pen and ink was commissioned by the Mohawk Nation in 1979, and has been distributed by them internationally through their many publications. It was drawn from a dream Gary had while studying Mohawk history and the stories of the Great Peacemaker. It is a pictorial view of the unity of Creation that underlies all spiritual traditions including Native American tradition, with Father Sky embracing Mother Earth and her children. The people of all races are returning to Nature protected by the light of their spiritual knowledge of this unity. Context: Gary was a frequent contributor to Akwesasne Notes. When folks were under siege in 1979, this image was used as the logo for the Emergency Response International Network (ERIN). Gary donated the original drawing to Notes, and it was printed as posters and t-shirts to help fund their efforts and spread their message of sovereign rights."]
