Physical description:
black and white window pain check 100% acetate taffeta dress; high neck (with hidden covered button) tucked to match tuxedo-styled tucked bib of dress; dropped waist, with small sash in back; fastens down the front with 15 covered buttons to match white bib/yoke; cuffs also white, tucked and with matching button; flange over shoulder; leg-o-mutton sleeves with arrow-shaped piecing and pleat in sleeve at apex of arrow; full skirt; Karen Alexander label; black bow at neck front. Dimensions: size 10 - 14-1/4" across shoulders x 49-1/2" shoulder to hem - mint condition. References/Remarks: This dress is a variation of Karen's Prairie look combined with the tuxedo front. The fabric is yarn dyed and ran about twice as much per yard as the other taffetas used for other variations of this look during the season. This was designed for Fall 1982. Dress would retail for $150.00; design was called the "Librarian".
