This was taken on the S.S. Dixie, the Southern Pacific boat, going down the Mississippi River and to the Gulf and on up to New York. I do wish the ship had left so that we would have gone through the Delta during the daylight. I can only remember the mystery of looking out and seeing waves on sandbars in the light reflected from the ship as we went through at night" (Roger Sturtevant, interview with Joyce Minick).
