Content description:
Photo shows Fillmore in San Francisco following the 1906 earthquake. People, mostly men, are crowded on the sidewalks on both sides of the street. Horse and wagons/buggies are in the street being loaded with people's belongings. The buildings and businesses bordering the street, including The Hamburg Saloon, appear to be more or less in tact after the earthquake but smoke from the coming fires is billowing down the street. Handwritten at the bottom left corner of the print (which appeared on the original negative)- "Estey and Rogers 1012 Fillmore St., S.F." Photo was probably made from the original glass negative which is missing from the Tribune collection.
