Handwritten on the back, "Upper-12th st. looking West from Broadway, 1873. Lower-Broadway, looking South from 12th, 1869." These are two different photographs printed on one page. The top photo is taken from a roof top or a second story window. Three blocks of Oakland streets can be seen on the other side. A horse drawn cart is in the lower right hand corner. The buildings are victorian with storefronts on the street floor. In the next block is a building with a steeple, it may be a church. Telephone wires run down the left side of the street. The lower photo is taken from the center of the street. Street car tracks extend into the horizon until they are out of sight. Victorian buildings line either side of the street. Two or three horse drawn carts are parked on the right in front of a storefront with an over hanging porch. Names on store signs are unreadable. Originally part of an Album #116 (Not original number, but original order.)
