They all appear to be looking into the elevator that has reached the top of the shaft. (Most likely they are observing the bodies of retrieved victims.) Only the backs of most of the figures can be seen. A large pipe runs across the lower left corner of the frame, and in the lower right corner are piles of rope and cable.
