The Tribune photo, dated July 21, 1984, has the following caption on the back: "AIR DRILL The sky over Livermore yesterday was filled with colorful collector airplanes in the city's annual air show. Here, four of them fly in close formation, with the two at the bottom almost too close." The plane farthest from the bottom is a biplane with geometrical patterns painted on its upper wing and rudder. The next one, closer to the bottom is a single-engine airplane with no distinguishable markings. The bottom plane is a biplane with streamlined fairing around its wheels, and a geometrical design painted on its upper wing. That plane is almost masking a U.S. Air Force [?] plane with a two-person cockpit. These last two planes are the ones that appear to be extremely close. All but the military plane are trailing smoke, designed to make them more visible to spectators on the ground.
