Curtains, candlesticks and a painting are in the background. The back of the photo has "Whipple, 3 col DA Tues, N/S" written on it in pencil and crossed out. Below that is "1 col, whipple DA Tues with story" written in pen, next to that is "Art Vargas" written in pencil and "APR 15 1963 stamped in purple ink. There are two newspaper clippings attached to the back. The older clipping has the caption "Mrs. Whipple Honored - Mrs. Laura Thane Whipple (second from left), member of a pioneer Washington Township family, was honored at a tea by members of Toyon Branch, Children's Hospital of the East Bay for her efforts in founding the branch in 1916. She served as Toyon's first chairman, holding office for 25 years. Recalling early days of the group, are from the left, Mrs. Francis Knapp, Mrs. Dora Mae Scudder and Mrs. Theresa Gallegos." It is stamped with "TR D APR 16, 1963." The second clipping is of this photo cut to just show Mrs. Whipple with the caption "Laura Thane Whipple" and it is stamped "TR D AUG 2 1966." The clipping has "dead" written over Mrs. Whipple's head. This photo was originally filed under the subject "Whipple, Mrs. Laura is Mrs. J.R.
